The Child Development Center of the Global Evangelical Church, Kotobabi was established in partnership with Compassion International a Christian NGO, whose mission is to release children in the community from poverty, and grooming them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.
The Project is located at Kotobabi a community of about 27,562 people. It is a mixed population comprising of Gas, Ewes, Akans and Hausa. Protestant, Catholic and Muslims are the main religion and the major occupation of the community is petty trading.
Currently, the population of the church is over 3000 members with 2,500 active members under the headship of Rev. Emmanuel A. Babaneto, the Senior Parish Pastor and Rev. Freeman Atsu, the Associate Parish Pastor.
The Project was established on 25th November 2006 with 200 registered children. The total number of registered children including top-ups was 373 but due to rampant relocation of caregivers leading to several unplanned exits, transfers of beneficiaries and planned exit due to beneficiaries attaining maximum age, the current number stands at 229 beneficiaries—97 males and 139 females—223 sponsored and 6 unsponsored.
We value integrity, excellence, stewardship and dignity; which is our greatest desire to implant these virtues in the children through the Child Development Centre project.
To be able to achieve our vision, we have projected ourselves towards the accomplishment of various goals on Seven (7) thematic areas namely: Child and Youth Development, Caregiver Empowerment, Beneficiaries Health Improvement, Child Protection, Strategic Alliance, Partner Development and Resources Mobilization.
